All batteries, regardless of their type, output less voltage while at lower temperatures.
This may cause a premature LOW BATTERY message, but it has absolutely no effect
on the performance of your CheckMate. This message does not interfere with any
functions, so the instrument will always run fine in a race regardless of the status of
the message during STANDBY.

The LOW BATTERY message is programmed to go out upon leaving the start of a
race so it will not distract you while riding.

If the message starts appearing every time you go to STANDBY, even in moderate
temperatures, then it's time to start thinking about having the battery replaced. Typi-
cally you will have enough reserve power for about 5 to 10 races, so don't panic.
Select a break in your race schedule and send the instrument to ICO. We will replace
the special Lithium battery with a new one, run full diagnostics, and re-seal the battery
compartment for $35. Pretty reasonable for several seasons of reliable, hassle-free
service. No more running to Wal-Mart to get batteries for the next race.
